Cheyenna for Selin Magazine.

What an incredible shoot, Cheyenna is hearing impaired and this was a first for me. I was concerned about how it would all come together and I didn’t need to worry at all. We connected and communicated easily with the help of an iPhone and Cheyenna taught me a few signs to help me along with giving instruction during our shoot.

Every week I submit to Vogue.

I set my alarm every Sunday evening for 11:01 pm because that’s when the portal opens for submissions. I get images ready days ahead, I am a planner so I keep a folder and I get the images and theme ready for the week so when Sunday night comes I am ready to post. I am usually in bed and have to get up to submit. Hence the alarm.

I haven’t had a submission accepted since January 2023 but it doesn’t stop me from submitting.

This line is constructed of Levi’s I picked up from a thrift store in the Summer of 2022. 100 pairs for $1 each. I did embroider some and silk screened on others and when my hands got sore I started to pull them apart and figure out how to make other pieces of clothing out of them. I mined a heap of patterns from Pinterest, printed them, pieced them together and then started to cut and sew the denim. I broke many needles and stabbed myself many times with pins and when I was at a loss as to how to make something I had an idea for Samantha was there to help. I have so much gratitude for everyone who helped me bring this to life.

A collection of 18 outfits hit the runway on May 21, and it was a blast.

Alex in my designs.

One of the amazing things I get to do is work with people I love working with on a regular basis.

Alex and I connected a few years back and have been making magic together ever since,

For this shoot, I used my up-cycled designs and we shot in the studio.

The editorial was featured in Issue 28, Volume 16 of Selin magazine and it’s called Alex in Design.
