Mya, seaside editorial published in Selin magazine.

Mya and her Mom met me in front of my apartment and we walked down to the second beach to shoot.

I was carrying my gear and the wardrobe and we chatted as we walked.

We found a place that was sheltered from the wind and alternated in changing in the washroom and sometimes on the beach. Mya’s mom was a wonderful help and kept an eye on the gear while we moved around the beach hiding from the wind and finding a shady spot from the sun.

I sent the images to the agency for selection and then I sent my favourites out for publication. I wanted to surprise Mya and the agency and I did. This spread, Mya, seaside was published in Selin Magazine Issue 39 Volume 32 and you can get a copy here.

Coco and Jayda in studio.

The best part of my job is getting to work with incredible agency talent. Every time we get an assignment or a concept we pull it together and get it done. Often we have never worked together before but after a quick intro and orientation, we get to work. This is the result, a certain kind of magic happens and we share the result with you.

Coco and Jayda haven’t worked together before and I am really happy with the result.

Thanks to Off Town Magazine #29 Vol 6 for featuring our editorial.

Jeremy and Tao on a Tuesday for Off Town Magazine.

I worked with these two amazing models Tao and Jeremy in the studio on a Sunday but it felt more like a Tuesday. This was Tao’s first shoot and I think he did great. Jeremy is a working actor and loves being in front of the lens, I am in love with this spread.

Off Town, Magazine featured the editorial in their Roll Up Volume 28 #4 Issue

Joe, in the studio with Gucci sunnies.

This is Joe, we have been friends for 7+ years, we share a passion for bicycles and art and are both pretty left wing when it comes to our political slants. He turned 80 this year and we went on the bus to his favourite Italian restaurant who give you a pen if you finish your meal. We went for lunch and I paid for the meal in 5’s. Tip money I had saved from my serving gig.

I wanted to make a fashion portrait, maybe even a series with this guy but it didn’t work like that with this. It turned out instead exactly as it should. It is just Joe, in a chair with some clothes I asked him to put on and a pair of Gucci sunnies that I found one day in a silk satchel on the street.

It’s hard to describe the details of the connection between Joe and I but maybe I can try. Often when I make food if I have too much I share it with him.

On this day, the portrait taking day when I found him in our meeting spot I could tell that he wasn’t feeling well and I asked him why he didn’t call me and let me know that was the case. His response is always the same, you gotta get going and it’s always good to get outside and ride your bicycle.

Turns out he had saved something I had made him in his fridge and it was now pushing a month old. He ate it the day before and that was what probably. made him sick. He didn’t freeze it or throw it away, he kept it and ate it in turn even if it was a bit on the late side and made his evening one of riding a porcelain bus.

Oh Joe, how I love you so.

Featured Artist with the Luupe for International Women's Day.

Can someone pinch me?

This just happened. Featured Artist with the Luupe for International Women's Day.

This image is part of a self-portrait project I did during the lockdown. I created a self-portrait a day for 150 days and during that time I decided to shave my head so I didn’t have to dye my hair anymore. This image encapsulates a moment in time that began a new chapter and I am beyond thrilled to be a featured artist among such a powerhouse group of women who work to lift each other up every day.

The blouse I am wearing is orange and navy blue, I bought it for $2 in a bin at a local thrift store. The pants I have on are polyester navy blue and pin stripped. I bought the couch during lockdown for $200 so I had a place to lay down or relax that was not my bed. I live in a bachelor's apartment and my bed is in the center of the main room. I wanted to change the vibe during the lockdown and I sold it once things opened up again and my apartment went back to being my workroom. I couldn’t move it out of the way to give myself enough room to shoot or use the floor when I was doing projects.

I hope you found a way to celebrate yourself today, remembering that you are an integral part of moving us forward and I am so grateful to be able to share a piece of my journey with you.
